At Driftwood Doula Services, birth is seen as a powerful, transformative experience—one that shapes you, strengthens you, and reveals a deeper sense of resilience and beauty.

Just like driftwood, shaped and softened by the currents it moves through, the journey of pregnancy and birth carries its own rhythm. There are moments of intensity, moments of stillness, and moments that ask you to surrender and trust your mind and body.

Through it all, you deserve to feel supported, steady, and in control in your birth journey.

Why Hire a Birth Doula?

Choosing to hire a birth doula is one of the most meaningful ways to feel supported, steady, and confident throughout your birth experience. Doula's aren’t just for natural births or unmedicated births! They are there to support every path, whether your plans include medication, an epidural, or a cesarean. No matter your preferences, a birth doula provides continuous, experienced support to help you feel grounded, informed, and connected every step of the way.

Research continues to show that continuous doula support during labor and birth is one of the most important (and basic!) needs of birthing people. With continuous doula support, families often see lower rates of cesarean birth, less reliance on pain medication during labor, and fewer medical inductions and interventions. Ongoing support throughout labor is also associated with shorter labors, a more positive and satisfying birth experience, and improved outcomes for both parent and baby. Many families also report feeling more supported emotionally, with a reduced risk of postpartum anxiety and depression.

The Evidence Behind Doula Support

  • Lower likelihood of cesarean birth (by up to 39%)

  • Shorter labors of 40 minutes on average

  • Less reliance on epidurals and other pain medications

  • Reduced need for forceps or vacuum-assisted delivery

  • Greater likelihood of a spontaneous vaginal birth

  • A more positive, supported birth experience

Experience You Can Trust

The care provided to doula clients is shaped by years of experience working in Labor & Delivery. During the time working in the hospital environment, I supported families through a wide range of birth experiences, including vaginal births, cesarean births, inductions, and high-risk situations. Today, that knowledge is combined with personalized and skilled doula support to help families feel steady, informed, and supported throughout their journey to meeting their baby.

How We Support Growing Families

Shaped by the Tide (Prenatal Support)

During pregnancy, preparation for birth is about more than gathering information—it's about building a strong, steady foundation as you move closer to meeting your baby. Through a series of virtual and in-person prenatal sessions, we'll focus on birth education, informed decision-making, practical preparation, and confidence-building support so you feel informed, grounded, and ready for the journey ahead.

Steady with the Current (Labor Support)

As your due date approaches, we'll stay connected so you feel supported, steady, and prepared as labor draws near. When labor begins, I join you when you're ready for support and remain by your side throughout labor, birth, and the immediate postpartum period. My role is to provide continuous emotional, physical, and informational support to help you feel grounded, supported, and connected throughout your birth experience.

Settling on the Shore (Postpartum Support)

The hours and weeks after birth are a time of significant transition for both you and your baby. During the immediate postpartum period, I provide support as you recover, bond with your baby, and begin feeding, including breastfeeding and lactation support when desired. We will then reconnect for an in-home postpartum visit to reflect on your birth experience, answer questions, and help you settle into your new rhythm with continued guidance and support.

Throughout your pregnancy, birth, and early postpartum period, I’m here for ongoing support. Whether you need guidance, reassurance, or simply a steady presence, I am always available to connect!

Let's connect and talk about your hopes, vision, and goals for birth!

Stories from the Journey

“We hired Alicia at 37 weeks pregnant to support us during the birth of our first baby and it was the best decision that we could have made. Alicia is so knowledgeable when it comes to labor, delivery, postpartum and breastfeeding. My unmedicated birth went exactly how I wanted it to and we owe so much of the credit to Alicia. She made sure that we were prepared for birth during prenatal visits and was able to help me gain confidence while breastfeeding during a postpartum visit. We can not thank her enough.”

“Alicia was beyond amazing, we were so thankful to have her apart of our birth! She checked in on us multiple times In the weeks leading up to our birth and even the weeks after. Alicia gave so much advice and even hands on help before labor even started. During labor she was at our house soon after calling and was the most amazing support. Having her there was so reassuring and brought so much comfort. She was able to get baby into a better position and continued to make me feel capable throughout the whole process. We can't imagine not having Alicia by our side for our birth.”

“Alicia was absolutely amazing from start to finish throughout my birth story as a first-time mom. She assisted me through the entire process from early labor to active labor and the birth of my baby girl. Alicia's commitment, compassion, and knowledge as a doula were exactly what I needed to have a positive birth experience. I highly recommend her services!”
